Impaired Driving: Be the DD and Win!

“Collaboration with law enforcement, local restaurant/bar establishments and 'Be the DD and Win' Designated Driver program has positively impacted the safety of citizens across the County.”

- Sheriff Geoff Dean, Ventura County

In Ventura County, there were 488 alcohol-involved collisions with 644 victims injured and 24 deaths, in one year alone. In response, a collaboration - that includes our cities, county, police, non-profit organizations, volunteers, businesses and others - has taken action to reduce alcohol related problems, including injuries, fatal crashes, fights, and other disturbances. The Be the DD and Win campaign is part of this effort, acknowledging Designated Drivers in Ventura, Thousand Oaks, Camarillo and Simi Valley.

The Impact

  • 39 Ventura County retail establishments have participated...and counting
  • 6,300+ non-drinking Designated Drivers wrist-banded
  • 60,000+ prizes awarded
And most importantly

  • More than 16,000 patrons transported home safely by DD!
