September 26, 2013
Featuring Los Angeles Times investigative reporters Lisa Girion and Scott Glover, authors of the nationally recognized series "Dying for Relief."Approximately 340 people attended Ventura County's Rx Drug Abuse Summit, focused on Local Realities and Local Strategies and how our combined community efforts can make an impact in understanding and addressing prescription drug abuse in our communities. The Rx Summit featured outstanding presentations by leading experts in the field, community partners, and local leaders all working together in a united front around this issue.
In 2009, Ventura County Behavioral Health presented its first conference on Rx and over-the-counter drug abuse and issued an informative “Prescription for Change” to treatment and prevention professionals, healthcare experts, law enforcement and stakeholders. Since then, the increase in prescription medication misuse continues to impact individuals, families and communities.
